                     Performances: 

November 14          Tue          Fall Orchestra Concert in the commons of BJSHS.  Junior Orchestra students are to be in the band room for tuning by 6:45, the concert will begin at 7:30.  This concert includes all Orchestra members of Junior Orchestra (grades 5 through 8) & Sr. Orchestra.

November 17-18          Western Kansas Orchestra Festival in Hutchinson 

 

         

December 8           KMEA State-Wide Festival Orchestra applications must be postmarked.

 

December 17          Beloit Community Christmas.  A concert sponsored by the Beloit Community Orchestra and the Beloit Ministerial Alliance.  The concert features the Community Orchestra and groups from the

                             churches of Beloit.  3:00 PM.

 

December 21          Wed          5th/6th Grade String Orchestra will perform for the Beloit Elementary School in the all-purpose room. 8:20 AM

 

January 6          Sat          Senior Orchestra students in grades 10 through 12 to

audition live for KMEA State-Wide Festival Orchestra.

                             Live auditions at Salina Central High School.

Audition materials for the 2006 Festival Orchestra will include literature, excerpts, scales,and sight reading. Selections for the 2006 Orchestra are available. Application deadline for string auditions will be Thursday, December 8, 2006.  The               contingency date for auditions is January 14.

Students should begin preparing the music at the beginning of the school year if interested in this opportunity.  Students must participate in the WKOF  and live audition at WKOF to be eligible to audition.  Orchestra scholarships at many colleges and summer music camps are automatic for students who have perform with the State-Wide Orchestra.

Jan 13 & 14, Sat/Sun          "String Fling" at Kansas State University in Manhattan for 7th and 8th grade string students.  Parents are needed to help sponsor the students at the motel.

 

February 11,          Sunday Beloit High School String Orchestra and    Beloit Community Orchestra Concert at 3 PM.

BJSHS Commons.  The Beloit High School Orchestra will perform first and then the Beloit Community Orchestra.  Special guest Fort Hays
State Faculty Ben Morris-Cline, cello and Tali Morgulis, piano.

February 22-24          Kansas Music Educator's Association (KMEA) State-Wide           Festival Orchestra for students selected by live auditions (Jan 6).

 

 

February 26           Mon   Senior Citizen's Day Concert at BES, 5th/6th Strings, 2:00 PM

 

March 10               Sat          Hays City Music Festival

 

April 10                 Tue    BHS Solo and Ensemble Recital in the commons of BJSHS for select solos.  The Orchestra is limited to presenting 4 selections at this recital. The recital is to begin at 8:00 PM.

 

April 14                 Sat     KSHSAA Regional Music Festival for Solo and Ensemble at Russell High School.  Events receiving a "I" rating will qualify for State Solo and Ensemble Festival.  Memorizing String Instrument Solos for this event is optional but strongly recommended.

 

 

April 18       Wed  KSHSAA State Music Festival for Large Groups at Beloit High.

 

April 19       Thur  Spring Orchestra Concert in the commons of BJSHS.  Junior Orchestra students are to be in the band room for tuning by 6:45, the concert will begin at 7:30.  This concert includes all Orchestra members of Junior Orchestra (grades 5 through 8) & Sr. Orchestra.

 

April 21       Sat     Kansas State-Wide Junior High Orchestra in Hutchinson for 5 selected Junior Orchestra members.

 

April 28       Sat     KSHSAA State Music Festival for Solo and Ensembles for events receiving a "I" at Regional Music Festival on April 14 Class 3A State Music Festival is held at Southeast of Saline HS.Receiving a "I" rating for a solo and participating in the KMEA State-Wide Orchestra are the highest honors for a high school musician!  Orchestra scholarships at many colleges are automatic for students who have received a "I" rating at "State".

 

May 1         Tue    Junior High Band, Choir, and Symphonic Orchestra Concert in the commons of BJSHS.  A Symphonic Orchestra is an orchestra with the full compliment of instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.  Tune at 6:45, concert at 7:30.  The string section will be limited to students in 6th through 8th grade with the winds being outstanding High School Band members.  

 

May 10        Thur  BHS Trojan Tribute at 7:30 PM.  Acts will audition in early May.

 

May 13        Sun    BHS Commencement at 2:00 PM, tune at 1:15 in the band room. The orchestra will play processional and recessional.  The BHS String Orchestra will also perform.  All orchestra students grades 6 through 11 will participate in the Commencement Orchestra.

 

May 18        Fri     NCK Vo-Tech College Graduation at 7:30 PM in the Beloit High School Gymnasium. All high school orchestra students grades will participate in the Graduation Orchestra.  Students will tune in the band room at 6:45 and be dismissed following the processional at about 7:45 PM.
