Anna Riphahn wrote her beautifully illustrated book THE TIMEKEEPER when she was thirteen and won the National Written & Illustrated By...Awards Contest for Students in her age category in 1995. Each two-page spread in her book has one major full-color illustration, three smaller full-color pictures, and borders and arches, all of which Anna designed, drew, and painted. The illustrations are packed with buildings, landscapes, people and animals. Anna's black-and white-cat Lumpy is included somewhere in each two-page spread. The rhyming verse she wrote to accompany her illustrations tell of a land without time and the resulting confusion. Anna devoted much of the time to community and school service projects. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and represented her school in track and tennis. In 1997, she was selected as one of ten young people by the Public Broadcasting System to be included in a documentary about young entrepreneurs. Anna lived in Topeka, Kansas with her family. |
